The GELC will be running a Post Midget Lacrosse League in 2018 for players born 2000 and 2001 in an effort to assist in player retention in the Edmonton area. This league is being created for players who are unable to travel and require a standardized schedule, as well as, for players who have financial constraints and require an affordable league to participate in. The GELC will create this league with as many teams that will be required to meet the players interested in this program. This league will play on Monday evenings and practice one other evening each week. The league will be played by Minor Lacrosse Rules.
There will be league playoffs but no tournaments or provincials.
The league will commence mid April and run through to July 11th.
The parents, in the GELC Member clubs, have been requesting the GELC to create an new program so their young junior aged players can continue to play lacrosse through the high school years. This post midget program will allow players to continue with lacrosse and allow them the opportunity to affiliate to RMLL Junior teams. It will allow players to concentrate on studies and part time employment with a known set schedule through the spring months. In order to get 12 games of lacrosse in there will be one weekend where two games may be played.
All players will still be eligible for the Junior A and Junior B Tier One drafts. Players may chose to play in the Post Midget Lacrosse League or in the RMLL.
Players wanting to play at the Post Midget Lacrosse League need to be registered and confirmed that they wish to play post midget lacrosse by March 12th,2018
